My Review

Heart poundingly  brilliant, the tension was palpable. I could almost hear the adrenaline coursing through my veins
The action was non stop as it raced along, I could hardly catch my breath.
The story follows Harry, his wife Alice and their baby daughter Evie. They are just a normal couple trying to cope with all the associated stress of a new born, when one night they are rudely awoken by armed intruders.
The thugs are looking for someone but Harry and Alice swear they don't know him, they eventually leave  but not before threatening to kill the baby if they go to the police. This opening sequence is a tough dilemma for debate as our automatic reaction would be to go to the police but imagine the sheer fear and panic you would feel if this happened and you believed your baby would be killed if you made one wrong move.
The story races along with Harry and Alice becoming more and more embroiled into this awful situation. They soon begin to realise that there is no one they can trust and when they are both eventually separated they need to keep their wits about them to try and find each other again.
I really felt for the characters and the traumas they were finding themselves in. I might have expected Alice to cry more as she was terrified but if you were fearing for your baby's life then you would have to try and be as strong as possible and your survival instincts would kick in. A great example of this was when Alice had to jump from the attic and she had to think that it was just a dream in order to be brave enough to do it. I think she had to hold on to that feeling in order to be strong for her baby even when there seemed to be no hope.
The baddies in this book were horrible characters who performed a sickening attack on Alice at the beginning and showed no mercy throughout.
My heart was pounding throughout this traumatic series of events where an innocent couple became roped into a murky world with merciless killers.
A gripping storyline that wasn't afraid to take us to the dark places.
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who likes an exciting and shocking storyline. I would say it was a similar style to the film 'Taken'
